Glory to God, Jesus Christ, the Savior of our Souls, Anointed by God, for Us.

His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony, spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, following a short illness. Metropolitan Anthony was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, in November. He was 69 years old.

I'll never forget his sermon that amounted to:

Be joyous, if you cannot keep a smile on your face,
Think positively and let the smile come from your mind,
If the troubles of the world overwhelm you to difficulty,
Let your heart be joyous all the same.
